Superintendent Search Latest News
The Board of Education has begun the process to select a new Superintendent. A community survey was completed with more than 5,000 respondents that helped form a job description. Come back here often for updates on the process.

Meals Available For All Students
Families with children ages 18 years or younger can pick a week's worth of meals (breakfast, lunch, supper, and snacks) at no charge at any of WCCUSD's 15 school meal distribution locations. Meal pick up is from 8 am to 1pm on Thursdays.

Update Your Contact Information
New and returning families update your contact information and fill out the Back-to-School Forms, including emergency contact, lunch forms and media release. You must complete the forms for each student. For assistance, contact your school or email pshelpdesk@wccusd.net.

Covid-19 Testing Information for All Participating in the Voluntary Spring In-Person Intervention and Instruction Plan
We are clarifying that Covid-19 testing is required for the spring in-person program. Next week, all students and staff participating will need to take a Covid-19 test to help keep us safe. Students tested this week will not need to be tested again.

The voluntary Spring In-Person Intervention and Instruction Plan begins Monday, April 19. Please look for more information about your schools plan from your principal. Our goal is to serve as many students as staffing allows starting first with the District identified 5 percent highest-needs students.

WCCUSD School Board Trustees Hires Dr. Kenneth Chris Hurst as the District's Next Superintendent
Dr. Chris Hurst has served as the Superintendent of the Othello District in Othello, Washington, since 2016. Before serving as Superintendent in Othello Dr. Hurst was the Associate Superintendent of Educational Services in Oceanside Unified School District.

Friday April 9 Superintendent Update: Voluntary In-Person Spring Intervention and Instruction Plan Details, Intent-to-Return Form
During the spring recess we received more encouraging news from the sate and all five employee groups. The voluntary Spring In-Person Intervention and Instruction plan was approved by each employee group. We are working to determine the number of staff volunteers for the plan and number of students we can serve in-person. We will be sending out more information early next week, including an Intent-to-Return-Form from your school.

WCCUSD, Safeway host free Covid-19 Vaccination Clinic for Families and District Employees
The West Contra Costa Unified School District and Safeway are hosting a free Covid-19 vaccination clinic from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, April 2. This is not a walk-up clinic. You must make an appointment.

This evening the West Contra Costa Unified School District will vote on a revised Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that WCCUSD and its five employee groups have worked on for the past week and a half to reopen schools this Spring. I encourage you to read the MOU and attend tonight’s 6:30 p.m. board meeting.

We spent the past week negotiating with WCCUSD’s employee partners about a path to provide in-person support to students in the most need starting this spring. As you may have read or heard, we reached a tentative agreement late Thursday with all five bargaining groups on a spring in-person student intervention plan, starting April 19.
