• During review of District plans for Wilson's occupancy of the Portola campus, the Division of the State Architect (DSA) requested that additional soil samples be taken for review by the California Geological Survey (CGS).

These samples are currently scheduled to be taken May 25.

Once samples are taken, the Geological Survey and State Architect review processes are expected to take up to three and a half months.

-> With this adjustment to our timeline, we are now expected to move at winter break (December).

These reviews help ensure that the Portola site is safe, and the delay will afford us additional time to prepare for the move.

This does not affect the overall timeline for demolition and rebuilding of the 42nd Street site.

Video of the District presentation and Q&A can be found on Facebook and YouTube.

Welcome to the Wilson Elementary School website!

Woodrow Wilson Elementary School is located in the North & East neighborhood of Richmond and was built in 1954. Wilson Elementary is a Title 1 school as well as a Reading First School. We provide a safe, calm, and high-quality learning environment where students receive challenging instruction in all areas of the curriculum. We offer a highly motivating curriculum in the areas of language arts, math, science and social studies. All staff members receive training in the fields of literacy, math, science, social studies, and technology on an ongoing basis. Enrichment programs in the arts and physical education are offered in conjunction with our community partners.
Wilson Elementary staff and teachers realize that education is a collaborative process, involving parents, students, and the community. We also provide support services to our children and their families. We work to enlist the support of local businesses and community organizations in our school. We realize that parental involvement in the school and its work is essential to improving student achievement. Wilson offers many opportunities for parents and community members to volunteer and to share in school programs. The staff, parents, and community are dedicated to working together to create a learning environment that is valued by everyone.
