How to Become a Volunteer
The Board of Education adopted Board Policy 1240 Volunteer Assistance, to ensure our students have the right to learn in a safe environment and remain protected from any form of misconduct by adults on our schools’ campuses. The Board is cognizant of the critical role parents, guardians and community members play in the education of our students. Parents, guardians and community members are encouraged to share their special knowledge and abilities with our students. At the same time, schools must be able to operate with full confidence that our students are working with adults who are there to serve their needs. The new policy is a means to ensure student safety and not a deterrent for parent/guardian and community involvement in our schools. If you have any questions, please contact the Community Engagement Office at (510) 307-4526.
