A note from Verde Principal
August 2016
Greetings Verde Families, Staff, and Committed Community Members,
It is with great pleasure that we upgrade our new and refined web presence.  We'll continue to add current and important information to this site so please add it to your favorites!  Also, be sure to check out our Twitter feed and tweet your positive messages to our Twitter handle.
In the 2016-17 school year, we will zoom in on the part of our vision that declares we are "focused on high achievement."  Toward that end, we carry a renewed focus on math and science as we teach our students to be great mathematicians and scientists.  Our students will go deeper into their reading and writing as our teachers employ a workshop style approach which will increase rigor in literacy as well as match our students with instruction that challenges them at that perfect place between learning and knowing.  Our burgeoning music and arts program will be broadened to ensure that all of our students are able to push their brain into improving its creativity, a vital skill for the 21st century learner.  We will work hard to ensure our students embrace growth mindset knowing that it is hard work that leads to academic achievement.
Our efforts in regards to school climate will zoom in on the "whole child," and "safe and positive environment" aspect of our vision as we continue to focus on encompassing core values - curiosity, gratitude, grit, kindness, self-control, vision - ensuring our students use their Toolbox tools to resolve conflict and keep focus on learning.  As always, we believe that character + achievement = lifelong success.
In all, we aim to leverage the incredible leadership our staff and community to take another major stride toward our vision:
Verde Elementary is a collaborative network of thinkers focused on high achievement and embracing the whole child so that students grow academically and socially in a safe and positive environment to become college graduates, leaders, and lifelong learners.
Please don't hesitate to reach out to me or any of my staff with your praise, feedback, or suggestions.  We are here to provide an excellent education to all of our students.
I look forward to working in partnership with you,
Verde Principal Eric Acosta-Verprauskus
