ELPAC English Language Proficiency Assessments for California
(Initial & Summative)
The ELPAC Initial Assessment is administered throughout the entire year after student initial enrollment.
The ELPAC Summative Assessment testing window is from February- May.
- Description
The ELPAC is aligned to the 2012 California English Language Development Standards. It consists of two separate ELP assessments: one for the initial identification of students as English learners (ELs), and a second for the annual summative assessment to measure a student’s progress in learning English and to identify the student's level of ELP.
Purpose
The purpose of the ELPAC is to identify English learners, or ELs; determine their English language proficiency levels and assess their progress in learning English from year to year.
