The safety and health of students and staff is our top priority. During the COVID-19 pandemic, getting the vaccine and weekly testing for staff and students is key in helping to slow the spread of the virus.
We have partnered with Laboratory Services of America (LSA) for our weekly COVID-19 testing. LSA administers weekly rapid COVID-19 tests to students and staff. LSA requires everyone to complete a ONE-TIME REGISTRATION PROCESS that can be done on a laptop, computer or mobile device. Once you have registered, students and staff will only provide their name and date of birth to receive a test on test day. We currently have a contact tracing team of 13 LVN’s who work with school sites and Contra Costa County Health Services on confirmed positive cases. All confirmed positive cases are also reported to county health.
Summer Session COVID-19 Testing
WCCUSD will offer COVID-19 testing Monday through Thursday from 8 am to 4 pm at the district central office (1108 Bissell Avenue in Richmond) for the summer school sessions.
Please note that you must register and schedule an appointment to access testing at this location.
ONE-TIME REGISTRATION PROCESS
Testing is available to all WCCUSD students, staff as well as family members of students and staff. Please make sure everyone who will be tested is registered before arriving at the site for testing.
COVID-19 Testing After Spring Break
We have secured enough COVID-19 at-home rapid test kits from the California Department of Public Health and Contra Costa County Health Services to provide all students and staff with a box containing two tests. These tests have been distributed to sites, and should be sent home to students prior to spring break. We ask that these tests be taken before coming to school on the day of Monday, April 11: the first test should be taken on Friday, April 8 and the second test should be taken on Sunday, April 10. Please do not come to school or work if you have a positive test.
Additional testing sites
WCCUSD will also be operating seven COVID-19 testing sites around the district the day before returning to school after spring break, on Sunday, April 10, from 9 am to 3 pm. Here are the testing sites:
- Alvarado School 5625 Sutter St. Richmond, 94804
- District Office 1108 Bissell Ave. Richmond, 94801
- El Cerrito High School 540 Ashbury Ave. El Cerrito, 94530
- Helms Middle School 2500 Road 20 San Pablo, 94806
- Ohlone Elementary School 201 Turquoise Dr. Hercules, 94547 (Testing site is located in the parking lot on Pheasant Drive)
- Pinole Valley High School 2900 Pinole Valley Rd. Pinole, 94564
- Richmond High School 1250 - 23rd St. Richmond, 94804
The sites are open to WCCUSD staff, students, parents, siblings, staff spouses, and their children ages 2 and older. If you have not registered, click here to register and schedule an antigen test. Everyone who tests must be registered in the LSA system.
Additional Testing Centers
The district is shifting more testing support and resources to school sites to support the new group tracing process. As a result of these efforts, the three testing centers at the District Office, Alvarado Adult School and Ohlone Elementary School will be closed as of Friday, February 11. This transition will allow more personnel to support testing and registration in schools. We will continue to provide weekly testing for students and staff at school sites and District offices.
