AGE ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS 2023-2024

  • Minimum age requirement for Transitional Kindergarten:
    Students who will have their fifth birthday between September 2, 2023, and April 2, 2024, are eligible for a Transitional Kindergarten program for the 2023-2024 school year.

    Who is eligible for Transitional Kindergarten (TK) for the 2023-2024 school year?

    For the 2023-24 school year, TK is for students who will be turning age 5 between September 2, 2023, and April 2, 2024. (California law requires that children be age 5 on or before September 1 of the school year to be eligible for kindergarten, and age 6 on or before September 1 of the school year to be eligible for first grade.)

    The eligibility for TK will expand every year for the next 4 years until all 4-year-olds are eligible in 2025-2026. To learn more, read about the new state law.

    Students who complete TK will be required to apply for kindergarten at their home school the following year.
