COVID Testing Update Effective Monday, September 26
-
The California Department of Public Health(CDPH) recently announced a COVID testing update, and we have updated the District’s COVID testing procedures in schools to remain aligned with CDPH guidance.
Beginning Monday, September 26, on-site testing will no longer be available at all school sites. Testing will remain available at two auxiliary sites: the district office at 1108 Bissell Ave, and Ohlone Elementary School, 201 Turquoise Dr. Hercules, 94547 (Testing site is located in the parking lot on Pheasant Drive). The two auxiliary sites will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is subject to change based on community participation.
CDPH has recommended antigen testing as the primary option for COVID testing in schools. School sites will provide take-home antigen tests upon request. Each student may receive up to two test kits per week, if needed.
We will continue to follow all CDPH and CDC guidelines. If you are symptomatic, you must go home and get tested. There will not be any testing onsite. We encourage families to continue to test at the auxiliary sites and to use take-home tests at home. We will continue to conduct group tracing for any exposed staff or students in response to positive cases.
Prior to any extended break, all students and staff will receive a take-home test kit. Everyone must test and show a negative test taken within 72 hours upon their return from break. This includes winter break, spring break, and summer break. Students and families may bring the actual negative test or show a picture of the negative test result.
The following resources remain available for testing:
