The West Contra Costa Public Education Fund (Ed Fund) and West Contra Costa Unified School District (WCCUSD) have launched a Covid-19 Rapid Response Fund to support vulnerable WCCUSD students and families. Serving almost 30,000 students, the Ed Fund and WCCUSD are committed to doing all we can to provide continuity of education and connect families to community resources to meet their basic needs, including rapid relief during this challenging and uncertain time.
The Ed Fund in partnership with the Office of Community and Family Engagement has developed a process to get direct financial disbursements out to families. In phase one the community school directors will connect with families in transition, and parents of foster, English Language Learners, Afican American, and probation youth. In phase two we would like to expand our reach to families not identified in phase one.
Our efforts are focused on the following areas:
- Feeding our students and families
- Continuity of teaching & learning
- Supporting vulnerable families through rapid cash relief
