We hope that you had an enjoyable Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. A quote from Martin Luther King Jr. “The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education.”
Tuesday January 21, is the first day for the 2nd semester. Final grades for semester 1 have been entered and report cards will be mailed home January 27th.
For the 2nd semester, it is important to set new academic goals and continue to have academic conversations with your child. The academic conversations you have with your son or daughter support, guide and reinforce your expectations for them throughout each school day, each quarter and the semester.
Peer tutoring is available in the library, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday after school from 3:30 – 4:30pm
We are offering online opportunity for students who earned a D or an F in any class that was previously taken throughout their high school years. Check in with your academic counselors for more information on credit recovery opportunities.
1st day for spring sports is February 10. All registration and paperwork may be submitted online, and can be found on our high school’s webpage. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Grecco. All athletes participating in spring sports are encouraged to purchase an ASB/Athletic card through the cashier’s window for $65. The ASB/Athletic card supports the cost of all student extra-curricular and co-curricular activities.
All students who participate in extracurricular activities, which include athletics, school productions, performances and school sponsored events, are expected to maintain a 2.0 GPA, have less than 10 days of unexcused absences and have less than 20 tardies. Academic/Athletic and Extra Curricular eligibility is verified at the start of each quarter.
Academic habits continue to be a focus for us. We want all students to be responsible citizens of our school community. That means we expect all students to come to school dressed appropriately with their ID’s visibly hanging around their neck. If a student does not have a photo ID, they will not be allowed into their assigned classroom. Before a student receives a duplicate photo ID, they will need your permission. Each ID costs $3.00 and a lanyard costs $2.00. We expect all students to be on time to all their classes, including 1st period class. 1st period starts at 8:20 am and we would like all students to be on campus by 8:10am so they are not late to 1st period class.
