From the Principal's Desk: Week of January 13Posted by Paul Mansingh on 1/12/2020
This is the last week of the 1st semester! At the end of this semester, you will have earned a portion of your academic paycheck! Yes, each student will be compensated 5 credits for each class they pass. If you are enrolled in 6 courses, and successfully complete those courses with a passing grade, you will have earned 30 credits. Each grade must be a C or better to satisfy UC/CSU eligibility requirements. Make sure you finish off the last week of the semester Titan Strong by preparing for any upcoming exams, and completing all projects and/or assignments. Check in with your individual teacher if you are not sure what is expected of you for the remaining last week of the 1st semester.
All students should have checked out a personal tablet. The intent is for them to bring their tablets to school every day, just as they would bring pencil, paper, and notebook. Please make sure they understand the importance of caring for their tablet. Students are responsible for any damages to the screen, keyboard, or physical structure of the tablet.
The African American Parent Advisory Council will be meeting this Tuesday night at 6;30pm in the library.
Parent Teacher Organization will be holding their next meeting this Wednesday, the 15th in the high school library starting at 6:30pm
Many students are taking online courses through Edgenuity – Please check in with them to make sure they finish each course by the January 15th. No credit or grade will be given to any student who does not complete the entire course.
If you have earned a grade of D or an F in a previous class, you may be eligible to retake that course through Edgenuity and improve your grade. Check in with your academic counselors for more information on credit recovery opportunities.
All students who participate in extracurricular activities, which include athletics, school productions, performances and school sponsored events, are expected to maintain a 2.0 GPA, have less than 10 days of unexcused absences and have less than 20 tardies. Academic/Athletic and Extra Curricular eligibility is verified at the start of each quarter.
Academic habits continue to be a focus for us. We want all students to be responsible citizens of our school community. That means we expect all students to come to school dressed appropriately with their ID’s visibly hanging around their neck. If a student does not have a photo ID, they will not be allowed into their assigned classroom. Before a student receives a duplicate photo ID, they will need your permission. Each ID costs $3.00 and a lanyard costs $2.00. We expect all students to be on time to all their classes, including 1st period class. 1st period starts at 8:20 am and we would like all students to be on campus by 8:10am so they are not late to 1st period class.
