  • From the Principal's Desk: Week of September 23rd

Posted by Paul Mansingh on 9/21/2019

Progress reports were delivered last Thursday to all students. Progress reports should serve as a guide that monitors academic focus as well as your child’s trajectory in becoming an academic scholar!  Academic habits are not inherited, they are developed.  It takes hard work plus dedication to achieve the success you desire. Are you focused at school and putting in the time at home to become a Titan Academic Scholar? The end of the 1st quarter is October 23rd.  If you have not already, please review each course syllabus, clarify class expectations, keep a log of all your assignments, and study for each test and quiz. We recognize academic excellence at the end of each quarter.

Our dress code policy is posted on the school website. All students are expected to dress appropriately for school. Any student who is not dressed appropriately for school will be given the opportunity to change. Please help support our dress code policy by reviewing the policy with your student. We will be conducting dress code sweeps throughout next week.

Lifetouch Picture Re-take day is Tuesday, September 24th. There is a link to order picture packets on the school website.

Back to School Night is September 26th.    The cafeteria will be open at 5:00pm providing a $1.00 menu for all food items. The general assembly for Back To School Night will start at 5:30pm in the gym and will feature performances from our drumline, jazz dance and our cheer squad. Thursday September 26th will be a regular bell schedule and Friday the 27th we will be on a minimum day bell schedule.

College Day is October 16th  – All students will be participating in the SAT or some form of the SAT. 9th, 10th and 11th grade will have the PSAT, and 12th grade will get the SAT.  It is very important that we focus on preparing for this day, so all students will perform at their very best.

Boat Cruise for the senior class will be on November 16th. All students planning to attend, will need a completed permission slip which includes parent signatures and emergency contact information. Tickets will be on sale for $75.00 for the next two weeks and will increase every two weeks.

Are you interested in being on our School Site Council?  School Site Council meetings occur monthly and are open to the public. We have several openings on the site council, if you are interested in serving please contact the main office.

Lunch Applications are available on the school website. If you have not renewed your lunch application, we encourage you to do so. All applications that have not been re-newed for this school year will expire on September 30th.  The federal government has placed very high standards on school nutrition. In keeping with the set guidelines, we cannot have students receiving food products from outside vendors during the school day. Students are not to order or receive food from outside restaurants throughout the school day. If you need to drop off a lunch for your son or daughter, please do so through the attendance office. Students are not allowed to leave campus throughout the school day and this includes all student parking lots.

Academic Habits that create an academic environment: Each day students are expected to have their school issued photo ID on a current Hercules high school lanyard. Students are not allowed in their classes or on campus without their Photo ID. If a student forgot their ID, they have the choice to call home to retrieve their ID or to purchase a replacement one. This is a special reminder that each time your son or daughter requests a replacement ID, it is a $3.00 cost for the ID and a $2.00 cost for the lanyard.  Students are expected to be on time to every class throughout the school day.
