• Wilson will be at the 42nd Street campus in 2017-2018. Relocation to the Portola Campus will not take place until, at the earliest, December 2017, and most likely Summer 2018.

What this means for you: If you want your child to attend Wilson but have been concerned about relocation and transport, this won't be a concern for Fall 2017.

    • With the additional time, Wilson and the District will be able to flesh out the details of transportation and share this information with parents well in advance of the actual relocation. This will include determining the number of busses, what grades will be transported together, staff/volunteer monitoring of the 42nd Street site and busses, and how bell schedules will work.

The delay in moving is due to Division of the State Architect requests for additional information. But, for those in the neighborhood awaiting a new Wilson, this does not affect the overall timeline for demolition and rebuilding of the 42nd Street site.

Video of a District presentation and Q&A about the revised timeline can be found on Facebook and YouTube.

Welcome to the Wilson Elementary School website!

Woodrow Wilson Elementary School is located in the North & East neighborhood of Richmond and was built in 1954. Wilson Elementary is a Title 1 school as well as a Reading First School. We provide a safe, calm, and high-quality learning environment where students receive challenging instruction in all areas of the curriculum. We offer a highly motivating curriculum in the areas of language arts, math, science and social studies. All staff members receive training in the fields of literacy, math, science, social studies, and technology on an ongoing basis. Enrichment programs in the arts and physical education are offered in conjunction with our community partners.

Wilson Elementary staff and teachers realize that education is a collaborative process, involving parents, students, and the community. We also provide support services to our children and their families. We work to enlist the support of local businesses and community organizations in our school. We realize that parental involvement in the school and its work is essential to improving student achievement. Wilson offers many opportunities for parents and community members to volunteer and to share in school programs. The staff, parents, and community are dedicated to working together to create a learning environment that is valued by everyone.
