Ms. Foster
Hello! I started my teaching career in New York City before moving back to California, my home state. I am so fortunate to be with the amazing staff, families, and students at the Vista K12 Virtual Academy! This is an amazing community of families, students, and educators. The tenets of independent studies speak directly to my values as a teacher: compassionate and relationship-based education that is based in true equity. Students all deserve an education that supports who they are now and gives them the tools and skills to help them move into a brilliant future and who they will become.
I have taught Kindergarten through 6th grade. Most of my experience has been in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math). I had the great experience of creating then being the content lead for a K-8 STEM + Exercise/Health program in a Los Angeles school. I am passionate about STEM and Exercise/Health because it’s how the world, and our bodies, work! Those subjects prepare students to live, adapt, and thrive in a changing society and changing planet.
If you see me stopped on a hiking trail in the East Bay, it’s because I’m looking closely at some cool fungus, animal, or plant that caught my eye. I also love to camp, read, crochet, cross-stitch, and travel.
