I am Chie Takahashi Haflich. In Japan I earned a B.S. in Mathematics and math teaching credentials. I have been teaching Algebra 2 and PreCalculus at Vista since the 2014-2015 school year as a part time teacher. Previously I worked at Portola Middle School (now Korematsu) for two years as a graduate tutor, running pull-out scaffolding classes, enrichment classes, after-school tutoring, and weekly Math Club. I cleared my California teaching credentials in 2019. I also have worked for the San Francisco Japanese School as a secondary school math teacher since 2001 and now am a lead teacher. 

I love this welcoming atmosphere of Vista; all stuff are caring and supportive to students and colleagues. I also admire the professionalism of each teacher. My favorite thing about teaching in Vista is that I can see students who used to struggle in math transform into confident problem solvers. Lots of individual support from their supervising teachers and one-on-one math tutoring help them grow into their full potential.

In my spare time, I enjoy baking, cooking Japanese food, and walking my dog, Lola. I have a grown daughter, a granddaughter, and a husband.
