Welcome to Collins' Digital Backpack!

Dear Collins’ Families,
Welcome back to Collins Elementary School for the 2020-2021 school year. Although we are starting the year virtually, we are going to experience great teaching and learning.  I hope that you all have had contact with your child’s teacher. Please let me or Tara know if you are having trouble with communication. Part of our need is that every parent should update their contact information in powerschool at http://wccusd.powerschool.com/guardian. If you do not remember your login information you can contact me, dsteen@wccusd.net or tkajla@wccusd.net and we will help you with the access codes.  If we have not emailed you, it might be because we do not have an up-to-date email address on file.  In this virtual world, that is how we will be providing links, assignments and communications.

School starts Monday at 10 am for Homeroom. All students must be present in the teachers zoom meeting for attendance.  Our first two weeks will be a soft opening in which we will be getting to know the students, working on supporting them in building routine and being organized and we will be spending time working to heal our social and emotional fears from the past five months, as well as building capacity to work through the next four months.

The first two weeks’ schedules will look a little different than the schedule that we will be following by the 1st of September. We will build strong routines and have organized schedules and daily agenda.  Students will have assignments and receive feedback on work accomplished. In addition to Homeroom and scheduled blocks of academic time, the teachers will also have daily office hours Monday through Thursday and be checking in with parents on Fridays.

I will also have daily office hours. My hours are from 8:30 to 10:00 daily.  The link to my time is: https://wccusd.zoom.us/j/92919836846?pwd=U3pKQ1UrQmdBMmE1VFNXbWV5amFpQT09

I have attached a copy of the teachers’ email addresses for easy access. It will take a few days to get settled as it does every year at the beginning.  Your patience and flexibility are greatly appreciated.  We know that we will have great success this year and partnership helps support the students in their growth and development.
I look forward to seeing you all virtually often.
Kindness Matters!
