This is my fourth year working as a seventh and eighth grade resource teacher at LDMS and sixth as a teacher overall.  Before coming to DeJean, I served as a founding corps member of the City Year New York AmeriCorps Program, leading teams of middle-schoolers in a service-learning program throughout the South Bronx.

After City Year, I served as a Peace Corps Volunteer, teaching high school English as a second language in Mozambique, Africa.  I received my bachelor of arts in history from Southern Methodist University, a master of arts in equity & social justice in education from San Francisco State University, and a master of arts in special education from Loyola Marymount University.  My hero and motivator is Paulo Freire, who viewed education as a liberating practice with student agency at its core.
