March 23 Closure Update: Week Two start; Meal pick up continues

En Español

March 23, 2020
Dear WCCUSD Families,

Welcome to Week Two of our school closures. We will continue regular communications to the WCCUSD community to ensure that you have the information you need in order to make decisions for yourselves and your families.

Currently, our schools are scheduled to open on Monday, April 13, but we anticipate that being delayed. While we do not have any definite direction regarding the long-term status of schools, District staff is preparing for the long haul. Once we have more details and a more concrete timetable, we will be able to share our plans with you.

In the meantime, we want to make sure that you are able to access the resources that have been provided to this point. Specifically, meals and several distance learning resources have been made available. Information on these resources can be found at www.wccusd.net/districtclosure. If you know of someone in need of additional help during the crisis, please have them call 211.

The West Contra Costa Public Education Fund has created the COVID-19 School Closure Fund to support WCCUSD families during the outbreak. The fund will assist with groceries, internet service, hotel vouchers, childcare costs and other emergency needs as they are identified. To donate or for more information about the fund please reach out to info@edfundwest.org.

We also want to remind all of our families about the 2020 Census. Households should have received an invitation to complete the 2020 Census  Once the invitation arrives, you should respond for your household in one of three ways: online, by phone, or by mail. The Census determines the amount of federal funding distributed to states for programs that impact schools, students and families. For more information on the 2020 Census, please visit Be Counted, California!

Finally, we want to ensure that families are receiving the most up-to-date information from the District. District information and resources can be found online at www.wccusd.net/districtclosure. If there are any District families who are not receiving messages from the District, please share this link so they can make sure we have their updated information.

Thank you for your continued patience and support.

In Partnership,

Matthew Duffy
Superintendent
