    What do you do at Kennedy? Spanish Teacher

    How long have you worked at Kennedy? Ms. Huerta started in 2013. This year is her 9th year teaching at Kennedy.

    What is your favorite part about your job? Her favorite part of her job is meeting new students. She gets to work with 9th graders and it is nice to get to know them. 

    Where did you grow up? Tijuana, Mexico

    Where did you go to high school? San Ysidro, California 

    In high school were you in any clubs or did you do any extracurricular activities (sports, band, cheer)? What did you do? Ms. Huerta belonged to MECHA (Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan.  I was also a member of Future Educators of America.

    What advice would you give students at Kennedy High School? The advice she would give is “Don’t waste your time.” This means don’t think that the classes do not matter, and don’t think that you have a chance later on. Also “Do everything.”

    What is your favorite thing to do outside of school? Ms. Huerta really likes to travel around the world. She has visited some of Central America like Costa Rica, but during the pandemic, some of her travel plans were canceled because she had to be careful not to catch the virus.
