TikTok Challenge Safety Message, December 16, 2021

Dear WCCUSD Community:

We recently became aware of a national Tik Tok challenge that promotes violence and encourages students to bring weapons to school, call in bomb threats and other threats of violence to their school.

School districts across the country are facing these threats, which did not originate in our district. Regardless, safety is our top priority and we take every potential threat very seriously, and will investigate as needed. Out of an abundance of caution, we want everyone in our community to be aware and for our staff at schools to remain vigilant.

I want to be clear that no act of violence on a school site will be tolerated. Each threat is fully investigated and any student involved in any threat or act of violence faces very serious consequences.

We need everyone’s help to ensure our school sites are safe. Students, we especially need your help to keep our campuses and communities safe. Remember, you can always reach out to a teacher or an administrator with any concerns about safety. We also encourage families to speak with their children about the dangers and consequences when posting to social media, and to be selective and careful about what you post.
