July 24, 2024 | Important Update: Temporary Closure of Stege Campus and Relocation of Stege School Community to DeJean Middle School
Dear Stege Elementary School families,
We are providing an update regarding the contingency plan for students and staff during the temporary closure of the Stege Elementary School campus.
The District has chosen the DeJean Middle School campus as the temporary location to accommodate two separate school communities with minimal impact on student learning and daily operations.
We understand that any change in school location requires careful consideration and preparation, and you may have questions regarding the relocation process. We have provided the following updates to address any initial concerns or questions from the community:
-
New Location: A separate Stege campus will be created on the DeJean campus. The separation of the school sites will support the continuation of the independent school routines with limited interaction between the school communities.
-
Transportation: Bus transportation will be provided for Stege students.
-
Food Services: School lunch will not be disrupted during this period. Lunch will be provided for all students.
-
Shared space: Although we are utilizing part of DeJean Middle School campus, sufficient space is available to ensure both communities can operate effectively and independently.
-
Parking and traffic: Parking areas will be designated for Stege families during drop-off and pick-up times. Due to bus transportation, traffic is expected to be minimal.
In the coming days, we will provide updates on the Stege Elementary School website for families, staff, and community members to learn more about the contingency plan.
Your dedication and cooperation are greatly appreciated as we work to ensure a smooth transition for our students and maintain a supportive learning environment.
We will provide more updates, as we continue to solidify the particulars of the contingency plan.
Sincerely,
Kenneth C. Hurst, Sr., Ed.D
Superintendent
