Weekly Message 1/17/21

Hello Families,

This is your Principal Ms. Ridenour with your weekly message and reminders:

1. In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, school will not be in session tomorrow. “More than 50 years after his assassination in 1968, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is remembered as an activist, a prominent leader in the civil rights movement, a pioneering historical Black figure, and a wordsmith. His impact is still felt today, as his daughter carries on his legacy, and we continue to look to him for strength when the fight for racial equality seems unending.” -McKenzie Jean-Philippe. We honor his legacy and are deeply grateful for his work against systemic racism. We hope that you spend time this weekend honoring Dr. King and we look forward to seeing all of our students on Tuesday the 19th at 10 AM.

2. We will be hosting an ELAC meeting for all families with students identified as english learners. Wednesday the 20th at 3PM via Zoom ID: 943 621 0200

3. This January we will be asking 3rd-6th grade students to participate in a short survey for their perspectives on our current school practices related to School Culture and Climate. The survey is anonymous and voluntary. There will be no identifying information on the form. Your child’s grade does not depend on answering the questions. Your child does not have to fill out any part of the questionnaire that makes him or her feel uncomfortable or that you think your child should not answer. If for any reason you do not wish your child to participate in the survey, please let your student’s teacher know by Friday, January 22nd.

4. Would you like to learn more about the Cool The Earth Climate Program? Their next Zoom webinar will take place on Thursday, January 21st at 7pm (Spanish interpretation will be provided). Sign up here!

Thank you and have a great week!
