Welcome Message

Welcome to the Ford Elementary School Website

J.O. Ford International MicroSociety School is a diverse / multicultural, Reading First (NCLB), Title I school located in an inner-city community of Richmond, California. The site was built in 1949, and was named after Jeston O. Ford, a city tax collector and assessor. Mr. Ford served on the Richmond Board of Education for 30 years. Ford is a Title I, Program Improvement, year 2 school with 94 percent of our students receiving a free breakfast in the classroom every morning and a free lunch.

We strive to provide a rigorous, culturally relevant, standards based curriculum for our students. Writing across the curriculum is one of the our major goals.

Our qualified and caring faculty will provide a rigorous, personalized, interdisciplinary and strong academic education for our diverse, multicultural student population so that they will demonstrate their multiple intelligences, self-directed learning and be prepared to perform successfully in high school and beyond. Our students will demonstrate their abilities in critical thinking, problem solving and effective communication.

As participating citizens of J.O. Ford International MicroSociety School, students will give evidence of the use of lifeskills, and productive, responsible citizenship in “a peaceful place” (our school motto) - an emotionally and physically safe learning environment.
