Superintendent's Community Message October 29, 2021
October 29, 2021
Dear WCCUSD community:
The heavy rain made for a challenging start to this week for our school communities navigating power outage issues. I want to thank everyone who helped us during these challenging circumstances, as well as apologize for any delays in communication as we relayed available and often dynamic information from PG&E to our school leaders.
As we head into the winter months and the rainy season, I want to take this opportunity to clearly communicate our protocol around power outages. Our goal is to keep you informed, as soon as possible, of any outages that affect the school day.
How to Stay Informed about Outages at WCCUSD Schools
If we learn the power at your school is off, we will:
-
Send out a robocall to all students, families and staff at the affected schools as soon as the information becomes available to us.
-
Post information about the closure on school websites and include a list of closed schools on our website homepage.
-
Post information to our social media channels (Twitter and Facebook).
Please see our detailed process in the infographic below:
I want to thank all of our staff for their hard work and adaptability this week. Our maintenance and support staff were busy responding to power outages while our teachers kept students focused on learning.
Please let me know if you have any questions about our power outage protocols.
Sincerely,
Kenneth Chris Hurst Sr., Ed.D
Superintendent
