Class of 2020 - Updates, May 1

Posted by Paul Mansingh on 5/1/2020

Greetings Class of 2020,

Yes, It is still your senior year, and we will make it through this pandemic and we will celebrate your achievements and we will acknowledge your successful transition into work, career, and/or higher education.

As you are aware, we remain in a shelter in place and under strict social distancing guidelines set by the state and the county.  All senior activities are pending the decision of the state and county health officials.  The extent of our celebration will have to comply within set guidelines and be approved by the district office.  We have to be creative and we need each student’s creativity to shine!

Congratulations to all seniors who have been accepted into UC/CSU  or any other higher education institution for the fall of 2020!  If you are enrolled in an AP course, you can get the latest updates through the College Board website. A big congratulations to Kayla Balabanis as the class of 2020 Valedictorian and Jocelyn Yen for earning the class of 2020 Salutatorian.

We have set up a google classroom for the class of 2020.  If you have not received the class code, you can email me or email one of your senior class officers.  There are many things we are trying to virtually plan and we need your help. Google classroom platform is how we will collect all of your photos and videos.  Google Class Code: g73m5pk

Graduation: We are still planning to celebrate the achievements of the class of 2020.  The traditional graduation ceremony will not occur, unless the state and county health officials approve mass gatherings. At this time, the district has approved a virtual graduation ceremony.  There is a google slide document for each senior to upload a 10 second grad video and a graduation portrait of themselves. This will allow us to create a grad video from all the slides and photos.

Decision Day:  We want to hear and see where you intend to go to school, whether it is a state, UC, private, out of state, military or vocational - we want to share your excitement.  There is a google slide document for you to post a 10 second video and college bound portrait.  We will again have this slide deck produced into a video production.

Cap and Gowns:  We plan to have cap and gown distribution on May 14 from 11am - 1pm.  We must comply with local and county safety guidelines so we need to have 1 senior per vehicle when you come to pick up your cap and gown.  Drive through pick up stations will be set up in the senior parking lot at the clock tower turnaround.  More scheduling information will be sent out.

The City of Hercules and ABC 7 are wanting to acknowledge our seniors.  We have created a separate google slide document for you to upload photos for the city of Hercules and ABC 7 - These slide decs should be photos only.

18X 24 Class of 2020, graduation yard signs are available on our school website for purchase.  We have negotiated a price of $10.00 per sign, all orders must be placed by May 3rd.   Distribution of the grad yard signs will be the same day as cap and gown distribution.

Official transcripts can be ordered online through the school website, the form is live and a set of three transcripts will be available for ony $5. 00

We hope that all of you are safe, healthy, nourished and sanitized, more information will be announced as news develops. Stay Safe, stay strong, and have a great evening
