Topic of the week, campus safety. How do we make sure that each student is safe throughout each school day? Our school wide safety net includes individual’s senses of everyone connected to the Hercules High School community. This includes the senses of parents, teachers, students and staff members. If we are all aware, alert and sensitive to out of the norm behaviors, we will be able to be more proactive, while sustaining a safe and effective academic environment.  If you see, hear, sense, smell, or feel something, anything that would disrupt our academic environment or that would threaten our physical safety, we must report it immediately to any adult on campus or to the appropriate authority. In addition, parents it is important to keep all student social media posts appropriate. We appreciate you checking in with your child to make sure they understand the importance of appropriate used of social media as well as reporting threats to individuals, communities, or schools.

College Day is Wednesday, October 16th.  All students will be taking some form of the SAT. All 12th grade students will be taking the SAT w/essay. 9th, 10th and 11th grade will be given the PSAT. The PSAT is also a National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. The PSAT will provide baseline scores to our 9th, 10th and 11th grade students and can help students and parents get a sense of the level of preparation needed for students to achieve the scores that will make them competitive candidates at the schools they wish to attend after high school. It is very important that all students perform at their very best on these exams. Any student entering a testing room will be asked to turn in their electronic device during the testing period.

Boat Cruise for the senior class will be on November 16th. All students planning to attend will need a completed permission slip, which includes parent signatures and emergency contact information. Tickets will be on sale for $85.00 for the next two weeks and will increase every two weeks.

Are you interested in being on our School Site Council?  School Site Council meetings occur monthly and are open to the public. We have several openings on the site council, if you are interested in serving please contact the main office.

Homecoming week will start on October 21st.  Our parade and rally will be on Friday, the 25th. The homecoming dance will be on the 26th.  The floats and homecoming royalty will be presented at the halftime of the varsity football game on the 25th.  Homecoming dance tickets are now on sale through the cashier window for $15.00, ASB Cardholder tickets are $10.

Winter sports is right around the corner. If you plan to participate, you will need to complete the athletic participation forms. All forms are submitted electronically and the links can be found on the school website.

Academic Habits that create an academic environment: Each day students are expected to have their school issued photo ID on a current Hercules high school lanyard. Students are not allowed in their classes or on campus without their Photo ID. If a student forgot their ID, they have the choice to call home to retrieve their ID or to purchase a replacement one. This is a special reminder that each time your son or daughter requests a replacement ID, it is a $3.00 cost for the ID and a $2.00 cost for the lanyard.  Students are expected to be on time to every class throughout the school day.

All students need to be on campus by 8:10am so you are not late to your 1st period class. Thanks for having your son or daughter on campus by 8:10am. We look forward to seeing all student on campus bright and early Monday morning!
