From the Principal's Desk: Week of September 16

1st quarter progress reports will be distributed on September 19th  to all students during 3rd period. Please take this time to review each of your child’s progress reports and discuss the importance of passing each class with a “C” or better. It is also very beneficial to view PowerSchool each day for up to date grades and attendance. In addition, it is great practice to  review each course syllabi for each class, check PowerSchool for missing or incomplete assignments, set aside time each night for your child to review classwork, complete homework and study for upcoming tests and or quizzes.

We anticipate a visit from the county office on Monday to validate our compliance with the Williams Act. All students will need to carry their textbooks to each class on Monday, September 16th. These visits are unannounced, so we do need to be prepared.

Lifetouch Picture Re-take day is September 24th. There is a link to order picture packets on the school website.

We will be having a 12th grade parent night on 19 September in the high school cafeteria. There are many things to keep up to date with as parents of a 12th grade student. Make sure you make plans to attend this very important 12th grade parent meeting on Thursday, September 19 at 6:30pm.

Back to School Night is September 26.    The cafeteria will be open at 5:00pm providing a $1.00 menu for all food items. The general assembly for Back To School Night will start at 5:30pm in the gym and will feature performances from our drumline, jazz dance performers and our cheer squad.  Thursday September 26th will be a regular bell schedule and Friday the 27th we will be on a minimum day bell schedule.

Are you interested in being on our School Site Council?  We will need parents to serve on the School Site Council Committee for this school year. If you are interested, please let me know through the main office. There will be a parent training for School Site Council on Monday, September 30 at the middle school cafeteria.

Lunch Applications are available on the school website. If you have not renewed your lunch application, we encourage you to do so. All applications that have not been re-newed for this school year will expire September 30th.  The federal government has placed very high standards on school nutrition. In keeping with the set guidelines, we cannot have students receiving food products from outside vendors during the school day. Students are not to order or receive food from outside restaurants throughout the school day.

College Day is October 16th  – All students will be participating in the SAT or some form of the SAT. 10th and 11th grade will have the PSAT, and 12th grade will get the SAT.  It is very important that we focus on preparing for this day, so all students will perform at their very best. 

If you plan to participate in a sport, you must complete an electronic version of the athletic participation form, available on the school website.  All athletes will need to purchase an ASB card for $65.00.  ASB cards cover all athletic participation costs, support the purchase of equipment, supplies and pay for tournament fees and transportation. ASB card sales will be available throughout the week.  All ASB cardholders will get the ASB logo printed on their school photo ID, so make sure you get your new photo ID Card re-printed when you purchase an ASB Card.

Academic Habits that create an academic environment: Each day students are expected to have their school issued photo ID on a current Hercules high school lanyard. Students are not allowed in their classes or on campus without their Photo ID. If a student forgets their ID, they have the choice to call home to retrieve their ID or to purchase a replacement one. This is a special reminder that each time your son or daughter requests a replacement ID, it is a $3.00 cost for the ID and a $2.00 cost for the lanyard.  Students are expected to be on time to every class throughout the school day. 

All students need to be on campus by 8:10am so you are not late to your 1st period class. Thanks for having your son or daughter on campus by 8:10am. We look forward to seeing all student on campus bright and early Monday morning!
