From the Principal's Desk: Week of November 20
Posted by Paul Mansingh on 11/19/2017
Greetings Hercules High School!
We hope that you had restful, peaceful and enjoyable weekend! Our academic conversation of the week pertains to the sustainment of academic excellence. Being an academic scholar is not something that just happens on its own. It’s not like a light switch that we can turn on and off. How are you monitoring your academic progression in regards to completion of assignments, preparation for tests and exams and tracking of grades in each class? Don’t wait till the progress reports come out to seek clarification on how your child is performing. Are you checking PowerSchool? Are you spending 40-60 minutes a night reviewing the schoolwork that was completed at school? Are you preparing for upcoming exams? PowerSchool is a great tool to check on your child’s academic progress. If you have any questions regarding any of the classes your child is enrolled in, we encourage you to review each course syllabi, communicate with teachers, and monitor completion of classwork, assigned homework and test scores. Progress report for the 2nd quarter is November 22nd. Progress reports will be distributed on Thursday November 1st.
College application season is in full swing, thank you to our academic counselors for hosting a full day dedicated to helping our seniors with the application process. Scholarship information is on our school website and updated on a regular basis, make sure you check out the link to college scholarships.
Congratulations to the Hercules High School football team! They move on to 3rd round in NCS winning their 2nd round game vs. Kennedy High School last Saturday. This is the first time in the school's history that our football team has won a 2nd round NCS playoff game! Titans play this Saturday night at Harker High School in San Jose! Come out and cheer on your titan football team to victory!
Yearbooks are currently on sale for $85. Prices will be going up so don’t miss out on reserving yours through the cashier’s window. Dedication pages are still available. A dedication form can be picked up through Ms. Schrampf or from room H105. Full page dedications are $150 and half page dedications are $80.
Academic habits continue to be a focus for us. We want all students to be responsible citizens of our school community. That means we expect all students to come to school dressed appropriately with their ID’s visibly hanging around their neck. If a student does not have a photo ID, they will not be allowed into their assigned classroom. Before a student receives a duplicate photo ID, they will need your permission. Each ID costs $3.00 and a lanyard costs $2.00.. We expect all students to be on time to all their classes, including 1st period class. 1st period starts at 8:20 am and we would like all students to be on campus by 8:10am so they are not late to 1st period class. We will see all of you bright and early on Monday morning.
