Celebrating Classified School Employee Week

Dear WCCUSD Community,
I am excited for this week because we have the opportunity to celebrate the individuals that hold WCCUSD’s schools together, the classified staff. Today, marks the first day of Classified School Employee Week where we honor and highlight the work of people from the teams that greet the community in the front office, take care of students on the playground, in the cafeteria and in the classroom, make sure students are safe and ensure schools are cleaned and well stocked.
In a normal year, we would be celebrating WCCUSD’s Classified Employees of the Year, but the COVID-19 crisis altered those plans. Rest assured, we will honor those individuals in some fashion when we return and resume the honors in the 2020-2021 school year.
It is also fitting that we are celebrating WCCUSD’s fantastic Classified employees, just a few days after we surpassed the 1 million mark on meals distributed during the COVID-19 school closures. For the past nine weeks, the Nutrition Services team has made sure children 18 and younger in West County are well fed and nourished with breakfast, lunch and dinner distributed at 22 locations regardless if they attend a WCCUSD school.
As we celebrate WCCUSD’s fantastic Classified Employees this week, I want to say thank you for your dedication and sacrifice that you make each day in service of students and their families. As a team, we are navigating a situation that none of us have experienced and I am proud to be a part of this district that has rallied around one another to serve the whole child with our whole community.
Thank you again for everything you do for students and families in WCCUSD.
