August 5 100% Return to In-Person Instruction Updates
August 5, 2021
Good evening, WCCUSD community,
I am so excited to welcome all WCCUSD students back for 100% In-Person instruction when the school year starts on Monday, August 16. As we prepare to welcome each student and family back to campuses, I wanted to provide you with several important updates.
First, tomorrow morning’s 9:30 am Facebook Live Session about the 100% Return to In-Person Instruction has been repurposed. We will instead show the detailed information session provided during Wednesday’s Board meeting as it answered a number of the questions we received about the 100% Return to In-Person Instruction.
You can view the session on Facebook and YouTube at 9:30 a.m. and leave comments and feedback. You can also email those questions and comments to feedback@wccusd.net. The Return to 100% In-Person Instruction Plan can be found at www.wccusd.net/return2school. A set of FAQs and Return to School updates are also on the same webpage.
We have heard and seen several concerns about safety for staff and students. Please know that the health and safety of students and staff are our top priority. We are taking our guidance from the California Department of Public Health and Contra Costa County Health Services.
Contra Costa County’s Health Officer Dr. Chris Farnitano, WCCUSD safety consultant Michael Booker, and I discussed the mitigation strategies we will use to keep everyone safe from Covid-19 and the Delta Variant.
To protect everyone from Covid-19, we will require the following mitigation strategies:
- Get the Covid-19 vaccine if you are eligible
- Universal masking indoors, regardless of vaccination status
- Classrooms and offices equipped with upgraded ventilation where needed
- Home health screening, stay home if you are sick or feeling ill
- Practice proper handwashing and hand sanitizing
- Practice proper respiratory etiquette (cover your mouth when you sneeze or cough).
- Limit visitors on campuses
- Social distancing where possible
Here are some other quick updates:
