Dear Olinda Families,

We have had a successful first month of school, with all stakeholders working alongside one another to establish the momentum of the school year.  Students are working hard at acclimating back to school and focusing on their academics and learning. I appreciate the wonderful turnout for Back to School Night and the teachers sharing their classroom presentations.  We had a successful beginning implementation of our continued initiative for No Place for Hate, with a school wide Character Counts assembly and our first Mix It Up Lunch of the year!

During morning drop off, please make sure that you are not stopping your car in the middle of Olinda Road or Castro Ranch Road to let your children out.  This is a major safety concern. Please enter the school lot to dismiss your child or pullover on either Olinda Road or Castro Ranch Road. The back gate by the field is open and students may access the school from there.  Also, please remember the parking lot past the gate is for staff parking only. Please do not enter the lot to drop off students.

Thank you for voting for our School Site Council members.  The 2019-2020 new SSC members are: Kellie Joffe (teacher), Elizabeth Waters (teacher), Vickie Price (classified), Leslie Clements (parent) and Elizabeth Addeigo (parent). Please note there are still three vacant openings for the parent community on SSC. Any interested parent may submit a nomination form to the office during the school year.  The next SSC meeting will be on Thursday 10/17 at 4:30pm in the library, (please note the time change).

Parent/Family helpers on site should all be wearing their volunteer badges whenever on campus.  This is a district mandate and we appreciate your cooperation. Preschool age students are not allowed in classrooms while parents/families are volunteering.    If you are interested in volunteering and supporting the classroom, please connect with your child’s teacher.

We would like to thank the Rotary Club, Ruth Horton and our SCOW Lee Gorton for hosting the Moon Observation at Olinda. It was a wonderful opportunity for our community to come out and view the moon through high powered telescopes. We appreciate the experience of viewing the night skies like astronomers!
