March 26 Closure Update: Virtual Board Meeting Scheduled for April 1
March 26, 2020
Dear WCCUSD Families,
I hope you and your families are thriving and finding innovative ways to spend time together through the shelter in place orders that have been issued. As we mentioned yesterday, schools in six Bay Area counties will not open before Monday, May 4.
Even though schools are closed and there is a shelter in place order, there is a lot of work to be done. The Board of Education will hold a meeting on Wednesday, April 1. This will be a completely virtual meeting, a first for this District. Details about the meeting, and the agenda, will be made available on Friday, March 27, after 4 p.m.
The District will observe Spring Break, the week of April 6. The spring holiday will be observed on Monday, April 6. On that day, District offices, including meal distribution locations, will be closed.
I also want to remind all families about the 2020 Census. By now, your household should have received an invitation to complete the 2020 Census. Once the invitation arrives, you should respond in one of three ways: online, by phone, or by mail. Remember that the Census determines the amount of federal funding distributed to states for programs that impact schools, students and families. For more information on the 2020 Census, please visit the Be Counted, California! website at census.ca.gov.
Please remember that all children 18 and under can receive free breakfast and lunch meals Monday through Friday at one of 17 locations during the extended closure. Meals can be picked up from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., unless otherwise indicated.
Lastly, this is a great time to complete the District culture and climate survey at http://bit.ly/wccfamily20. The survey helps us build and enhance the culture and climate at each school so students feel safe and can thrive academically. It is also a great way to tell us how we're doing and ways we can improve. Our goal is for 50 percent of families at each school to complete the survey.
For all the news about school closures, please check the District’s web page at www.wccusd.net/districtclosure. You can also receive information through our social media platforms.
