Richmond HS Boys Soccer to Play for CIF NorCal Title

Another round, another win, and another step toward history.

The Richmond High School boys soccer team continued its march through a historic postseason on Thursday, topping host Bellarmine-San Jose 4-2 on penalty kicks. The win moves the Oilers (15-2-9) into the inaugural California Interscholastic Federation Northern California Soccer Division II Championship game.

Richmond travels to face Alisal-Salinas on Saturday with the time to be announced.

This is the first time that Northern California has held a tournament beyond the traditional section tournaments. The Oilers finished as the NCS Division II runner up to Montgomery-Santa Rosa, who beat the Oilers 2-1 in the NCS Division II championship on February 24.

It has been a historic year for Richmond, which saw longtime head coach Rene Siles eclipsed the 300-win mark and the team earned its 18th North Coast Section playoff berth. Richmond won the NCS Division II title in 2015
