Richmond High School Boys Soccer Team Takes No. 3 Seed in Inaugural CIF NorCal Division II Championship
The Richmond High School boys soccer team continued to make history over the weekend. In a year where longtime head coach Rene Siles eclipsed the 300-win mark and the Oilers earned their 18 North Coast Section playoff berth, the team added another milestone.
Richmond was announced as the No. 3 seed in the inaugural California Interscholastic Federation Northern California Soccer Division II Championship Tournament. The Oilers (13-2-9) host No. 6 Antelope Titans (17-5-1) at 6 pm on Tuesday, March 6. It is the first time that Northern California has held a tournament beyond the traditional section tournaments.
The Oilers finished as the NCS Division II runner up to Montgomery-Santa Rosa, who beat the Oilers 2-1in the NCS Division II championship on February 24. Richmond and De La Salle-Concord earned the highest seeds for East Bay boys teams that advanced to the NorCal tournament.
