School Safety, December 7, 2021

Español

Dear WCCUSD Community:

I want to inform you about an online threat through a social media post that has been circulating on social media and concerns a number of our high schools and middle schools. The same threat was posted a number of times and adapted for different schools. El Cerrito Police investigated and these threats have been determined not to be credible.

The threat originated from a different district, and unfortunately, people wishing to disrupt school have re-posted it linking to our different school communities. The police and district staff have determined that this post is false, and that police and officials in another district have already determined its origins.

The safety of our students and staff is our top priority, and we take any threats of this nature very seriously. Thank you to all the staff, students, and families who reached out to school leadership about this issue. The district safety team will continue to work with El Cerrito Police and school can continue as normal.

Sincerely,

Dr. Kenneth Chris Hurst
Superintendent
