Community Update: No Positive COVID-19 Test for Students

Last night, a local TV news reporter erroneously reported that a student at Mira Vista K-8 School has tested positive for COVID-19. No student has tested positive for COVID-19.

In actuality, a student at Mira Vista had contact with a relative who tested positive for the coronavirus. That student will remain out of school for 14 days after their last contact with that relative.

To date, the District does not know of any students or staff members who have tested positive for COVID-19.

In addition, Contra Costa Health Services released the following statement:

To date, of the confirmed cases for COVID-19 in Contra Costa County, none of them are children or school staff. Public health maintains its commitment to notify schools if and when a student or staff member is confirmed positive.  We also know that community spread is occurring and more cases will appear. Please take our recommendations for social distancing seriously. Visit www.cchealth.org/coronavirus to get the most up to date local information.
