Four WCCUSD Schools qualify for NCS Football Playoffs
For the third straight year, the West Contra Costa Unified School District will have four schools in the postseason. Kennedy, De Anza will host NCS playoff games on Friday, while Pinole Valley and El Cerrito will travel to play games also on Friday.

UC President Janet Napolitano visits Hercules middle and high school to kick off UC's application filing period
With the Titans’ varsity drumline providing theme music and the cheer squad supplying the spirit, Hercules welcomed UC President Janet Napolitano to school for UC Achieve Day. The retiring UC President also brought four recent Hercules alumni with her to highlight the UC experience and to raise awareness around the UC Application Filing Period that ends November 30.

Sea Plankton earns El Cerrito Freshman National Recognition
El Cerrito High School freshman Nora Thompson's science project "Lights of the Sea" was one of 300 projects nationwide recognized by the Broadcom Foundation and Society for Science and the Public. Thompson will find out Sept. 18 if her project is among the top 30 in the country.
