• Richmond High continues to build it's athletic programs throughout the school year in 2017-2018. Some of the notable successes that we saw this year includes:

    Baseball: 4-16

    Coach: Deryk Hudson

In Coach Hudson's first year as head coach and athletic director, he was able to begin to build the foundations of a strong baseball program. While the record doesn't show it yet, the team is young and resources and team culture are being built. We look forward to continuing to upgrade our baseball field and equipment this coming year.

    Boy's Basketball: 12-15

    Coach: Robert Collins

Coach Collins has been with Richmond High School for over a decade and has been a pillar of the physical education community. Under Coach Collins, the basketball team, powered by sophomores, made it to the playoffs and had a heartbreeaking, last minute loss to Kennedy High. If this team is able to stay together for two more years it should easily win the divsion.

    Girl's Basketball: 11-16

    Coach: Jeffrey Jaymot

Coach Jaymot can be found with his team practicing in the gym during the spring, the summer, the fall, and playing games in the winter. This girl's Basketball team is young, made up of mostly Freshmen, but they are fierce. Early in the year the girls had a strong rhythm playing together, but towards the end of the season it unraveled. If the girls can find a way to keep that comraderie together, they will be a force in the TCAL league.

    Football: 5-5

    Coach: Andy Odisio

"Coach O", as his players fondly call him, has been hard at work building a football program day and night and all year round. Since Coach O has arrived, the football program has vastly improved. This past year the team had a win streak going into league play. The TCAL league includes strong football programs like Kennedy and De Anza, but this Richmond football team knows that the hard work comes in the off season. This season saw many injuries to the team, which hurt the Oilers in the long run. We look forward to another season starting in early August!

    Boy's Soccer: 15-3-9

    Coach: Rene Siles

Coach Siles has become a legend in the Richmond community. Not only do his teams always make the playoffs (since he has joined the team back in the 1990's), but this year the team finished in the top 5 in the state. The Oilers came up short in the final game for state against Alisal. The team is well balanced, with a strong mixture of students from all grade levels. One more item; a high percentage of students who play on the varsity team and have A-G requirements, often go on to play Division I and II soccer at the collegiate level.

    Girl's Soccer: 7-15

    Coach: Felipe Franco

Coach Franco has been hard at work building the girl's soccer program over several years. Don't let the 7-15 record fool you, these girls went 6-2 in league and made it to the final TCAL Championship game. The girls even made it into the CIF Northcoast State Championship tournament. The team had a very close senior group of girls, so this team will now be looking for new leadership to step up as it begins it's rebuild.

    Boy's Tennis: 4-10

    Coach: Jeffrey Jaymot

Coach Jaymot will be looking to build on his team's success. While the record doesn't look all that impressive, know that the victories received came at the hands of powerhouses like Pinole Valley and De Anza High School. Tennis is a new sport to many of our students, so it is often an uphill battle, but with the help of strong coaching, we look forward to seeing this program continue to grow.

    Girl's Tennis: 4-12

    Coach: Jeffrey Jaymot

Similar to what we saw in the boy's program, the girls played hard and practiced daily to get better. Unfortunately, the season did not fall their way, but once again, impressive victories against Pinole Valley High. This program will be looking at some new assistance moving forward as Coach Jaymot will be stepping down to make way for a new coach. We look forward to seeing how the program develops, and the growth of our players.

    Boy's Volleyball: 20-7

    Coach: Christy Tianero

Wow! Our boy's volleyball team had one heck of a strong season. A combination of self-dedication throughout the season, supportive attitudes in helping each other get better, and a strong mental toughness helped this team blow through the TCAL league and even get to the CIF Chamionship Tournament. This team was built by players working hard for all 4 years. This team will be looking to rebuild in the coming year to find that success again.

    Girl's Volleyball: 5-10

    Coach: Christy Tianero

Our girls played hard this season, but are still a young team. Injuries took out some strong players late in the season, but you can tell that the team has a strong core as they entered league play with a winning record. This team is poised to make a run for the playoffs next year!
