  1. Network & Infrastructure Management: Ensuring that the district’s networks, internet access, and hardware (such as computers and tablets) are reliable and secure.
  2. Technical Support & Services: Providing help desk support to staff and students, troubleshooting issues with devices and systems, and maintaining IT services.
  3. Digital Learning Tools: Implementing and managing software and tools that support classroom teaching, such as learning management systems (LMS), digital platforms, and other educational technologies.
  4. Cybersecurity: Protecting district data and systems from cyber threats through the implementation of security protocols, firewalls, and data encryption.
  5. Training & Professional Development: Offering training for teachers and staff on new technologies and digital tools to ensure they are equipped to integrate technology into their work.
  6. Technology Integration: Ensuring that technology aligns with the district's educational goals, such as the integration of digital learning and equity-focused access to technology for all students.

The WCCUSD Technology Department plays a vital role in ensuring that technology supports educational outcomes, equity, and innovation in the district.

WCCUSD 3-Year Technology Plan

In September 2023, the WCCUSD School Board approved a new 3-year Technology Plan to align with the skills and knowledge we want students to acquire during their time with us.

The pandemic revealed both the potential and challenges of technology, highlighting access inequities and creating an increased reliance on tech in education. The new plan sets the priorities for technology use in WCCUSD from 2023-24 to 2025-26.

Our 3-year Tech Plan focuses on five key pillars:

  • Equitable Access: Providing hotspots for students without reliable home internet and Chromebooks for every student.
  • Tech-Empowered Teaching & Learning: Utilizing Promethean ActivPanels for classroom projection and the Tech Teacher Leader program at each school.
  • Digital Life: Promoting digital citizenship and helping students create a healthy balance with technology.
  • IT Operations & Cybersecurity: Ensuring effective tools, services, and support to maintain safe, efficient technology use.
  • Accessible Student Data for Decision-Making: Improving reporting systems and data integration for better decision-making.

The plan aims to build a strong technology foundation that supports future growth and empowers leadership across the district.

You may review the plan in its entirety HERE.
