Our school district parcel tax at work

  • One Consistent Rate for Over 20 Years
    West Contra Costa voters first passed a 7.2 cents-per-square-foot parcel tax in 2004 to avoid classroom-level budget cuts. This local tax in support of local schools was reapproved by voters in 2012 and 2016. It has never been increased by the District and is not a new tax.
     
  • Priorities Informed by Our Community
    Our WCCUSD parcel tax is a core source of funding for counselors, librarians, and athletic programs. When the tax is up for renewal, the District conducts informational polling of our local community to understand what educational programs voters and taxpayers care most about funding. The most recent results of this polling are available for public view on the July 15, 2026, WCCUSD Board Agenda. Community priorities have remained stable from 2016 to 2026.
     
  • Benefits for Every West Contra Costa Public School, With Exemptions for Those Who Need It
    Both WCCUSD district schools and charter schools benefit from the parcel tax, which brings in $10.2 million annually. Exemptions are in place for seniors and for those with disabilities. Independent audits and oversight ensure accountability.
