Fingerprinting Information

Fingerprinting Process for Volunteers

All volunteers in the West Contra Costa Unified School District (WCCUSD) must complete a fingerprint background check before being cleared to work with students.

  1. Schedule an Appointment – Volunteers must obtain a fingerprinting form from the school site or district office and schedule an appointment with our designated fingerprinting agency. (You can find contact information on the school website under OUR SCHOOL > ADMINISTRATION or by scrolling to the Footer at the bottom of the page where you'll find the main office phone number and school address.)
  2. Bring Required Documentation – A valid government-issued ID and the completed form provided by the district are required.
  3. Fingerprinting Submission – The fingerprints are electronically submitted to the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for background checks.
  4. Clearance Notification – The district will receive clearance results directly from the DOJ. Volunteers cannot begin service until clearance is confirmed. Processing times vary but may take a few weeks.

For application status, contact the district’s Office of Family & Community Engagement:

  2. Live Scan Appointment – Applicants must schedule and complete fingerprinting at an approved Live Scan location.
  3. Required Documentation – A valid government-issued ID and the district-provided Live Scan form must be presented at the appointment.
  4. Background Check Processing – Fingerprints are sent to the DOJ and FBI for clearance. Processing times vary but typically take a few days to weeks.
  5. Final Clearance & Employment – Employment cannot begin until HR receives and confirms fingerprint clearance. Once cleared, the hiring process proceeds with onboarding and training.
