7-11 Committee
Before the sale or lease of District-owned property, the Board of Education must appoint an advisory committee of no less than seven (7) members and no more than eleven (11) members following the criteria outlined in the Education Code 17389. The 7-11 Committee’s purpose is to advise the Board of Education in developing District-wide policies and procedures in the use or disposition of school buildings or spaces not needed for school purposes (Ed. Code 17387, 17388).
Made up of parents, business owners, and community leaders, the 7-11 Committee will review and analyze property owned by West Contra Costa Unified School District. They will advise and determine what existing property is not needed for school purposes. The Committee will present a report to the Board of Education that includes recommendations for the surplus property.
