Expanded Learning Program (After School Programs)

Expanded Learning Program

The West Contra Costa Unified School District’s Expanded Learning Office partners with local youth serving community-based organizations to operate the District’s 36 comprehensive school-based after school programs.

District after school programs operate every day that school is in session from the end of the instructional day until 6:00pm.  Each comprehensive after school program offers the following components: homework support/literacy; a variety of enrichment activities including visual and performing arts, STEM, and leadership; structured physical activity; and supper provided by WCCUSD Nutrition Services.

District after school programs are available at almost all Title I elementary, middle, and high schools.  Priority enrollment is offered to students who fall under the following categories: Families in Transition (FiT)/McKinney Vento; foster youth; eligible to receive free or reduced-price meals (FRPM); and English learner (EL). Students who fall under these categories attend program free of charge.  Please note priority enrollment may be extended to students who can attend program 5 days a week as well as students who have siblings enrolled in the program.

While most students attend the after school program at their home school, unduplicated TK-6th grade students at schools that do not have an on-site after school program have access to attend a hub after school program at no cost  pending availability of slots .  Per CDE, unduplicated students include those falling under the following categories: Families in Transition (FiT)/McKinney Vento; foster; eligible to receive free or reduced-price meals (FRPM); and English learner (EL).  The table below shows the locations of the District’s hub after school programs.
