ACT

Description

The ACT is a national college admissions examination that consists of subject area tests in: English, Math, Reading, and Science. The ACT Plus Writing includes the four subject area tests plus a 30-minute Writing Test. The ACT is administered on six test dates throughout the school year at El Cerrito High School (ACT Regional Testing Center). 

Purpose

The ACT multiple-choice tests are curriculum based. The ACT is not an aptitude or an IQ test. ACT scores fulfill admission requirements and are accepted by all 4-year colleges and universities.

Test Details
  • Grade Levels Tested: 10-12
  • Content Areas: English, Reading, Math, Science, Writing (Optional)
  • Type of Questions: 215 Multiple-choice question, Timed
  • Length of Test: 2 hours and 55 minutes, 3 hours and 25 minutes (with Writing)
Test Results
  • Available 2-3 weeks after administration
  • ACT distributes scores to students and schools
