PROJECT INTENTS

  1. Vision: People who live, work and learn in and near Richmond spend more time outdoors, reaping the many benefits related to health and wellness, social justice, positive youth development and education.

  2. Mission: To collectively expand equitable access to the outdoors for people who live, work and learn in and near Richmond.

  3. Goals for the first five years of implementation:  A pathway of preK-12 + families outdoor programming  so that Richmond youth and families in the identified geographic and school pilot hubs have access to multiple, repeat, and reinforcing outdoor experiences, paving the way for expansion throughout West Contra Costa Unified School District.

  4. Outcomes: Collective outcome areas and outcomes were developed collaboratively with the ROC Steering Committee, and incorporate input from students, teachers, and parents gathered through Community Engagement efforts. Outcome areas for the ROC include: Education, Positive Youth Development, Health and Wellness, and Social Justice.
