Dear Parents/Guardians: August 28, 2006
Welcome: The staff and I want to welcome new and returning families to the 2006-07 year. This is the first year that we open school in the completed new facility. Most teachers have returned with a few new additions. From the initial reports, our spring test scores show improvement. We’re on the road to success and plan to stay on that path.
School Culture: The staff has agreed to implement a new school-wide philosophy called Character Counts!, based on six character traits; trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, citizenship. Through modeling and instruction, students will be taught to make choices with these traits in mind. There will be workshops in September to share information about the program so that parents can be our partners in this effort to shape the school culture.
Brunch: Instead of breakfast at 8:00 AM, the food program will be offering brunch during the AM recesses for students who qualify under the free and reduced meal program. Others can purchase brunch the same way lunch meals are sold daily.
Dismissal and Drop Off: All students will be dropped off and picked up at the red gate on the East Richmond side. Children are not to be brought to school before 8:15 when there is adult supervision on the yard. Please be on time when picking up your child at the end of the school day. Parents who are habitually late will be invited to conference with the principal.
Last, please be active and visible at your child’s school. The staff and I cannot do our jobs successfully without your support. Make the time to talk about school with your child at home. Read with your child daily and help with homework. We need you as partners.

Bienvenidos: El personal y yo deseamos dar la bienvenida a las familias nuevas y a las que vuelven al año 2006-07. Éste es el primer año que abrimos la escuela en la nueva facilidad. La mayoría de los profesores han vuelto con algunas nuevas adiciones. De los reportes iniciales, nuestros resultados de los exámenes que tomaron en la primavera demostrado mejoría. Estamos en el camino al éxito y el plan es permanecer en esa trayectoria.
Cultura de la escuela: ¡ El personal acordó poner una nueva filosofía en ejecución llamad Las Cuentas de Carácter!, basado en seis rasgos del carácter; confiable, respeto, responsabilidad, imparcialidad, amabilidad, ciudadano respetable. Con moderada instrucción, enseñarán los estudiantes a hacer opciones con estos rasgos en mente. Habrá talleres en Septiembre para compartir la información sobre el programa de modo que los padres puedan ser nuestros socios en este esfuerzo de formar la cultura de la esquela.
Brunch: En vez del desayuno a las 8:00 AM, el programa del alimento ofrecerán el brunch durante el recreo de la mañana para los estudiantes que califican bajo el programa Free and Reduced lunch. Otros pueden compara el brunch de la misma manera que se venden el almuerzo diariamente.
La Salida y Dejar: Todos los estudiantes serán dejados y recojidos en la puerta roja en el lado Este de Richmond. Los niños no deben ser traídos a la escuela antes de las 8:15 cuando hay un adulto supervisando la yarda. Por favor llegue a tiempo a recoger a su niño/a al final del día de escuela. A los padres que llegan habitualmente tarde, serán invitados a una conferencia con la principal.
Por ultimo sea activo y visible en la escuela de su niño/a. El personal y yo no podemos hacer nuestros trabajos con éxito sin su ayuda. Haga un tiempo para hablar de la escuela con su niño/a en el hogar. Lea con su niño/a diariamente y ayúdele con la tarea.
Véame por favor si tiene cualquier preocupación. Estoy mirando adelante un gran año.
