School Accountability Report Cards

Welcome to the Verde Elementary School website.

Verde Elementary was built in 1950 directly in front of Wildcat Creek, which runs through North Richmond. The school is located in an unincorporated part of Richmond in a residential neighborhood comprised of apartments mixed in with single-family homes. Family incomes range from low to moderate. All of Verde’s students receive free breakfasts and lunches. We have 3 Alternate Primary Language (APL) classrooms to serve our English Learners in Kindergarten through second grade. Verde Elementary is a part of many funded programs that aid in our constant effort to provide our students with the best possible education. We are a Reading First and Program Improvement, Year 5 School. We also receive funds through Title I, the Immediate Intervention/Underperforming Schools Program (II/USP), the High Priority Schools Grant (HPSG), and the School Improvement Program (SIP). Verde Elementary also receives Limited English Proficiency (LEP) funds due to our large English Learner population.

Verde Elementary School has the following goals:

  • To build a learning community where students, staff, and parents bond while focusing on achievement and meeting and exceeding state standards.
  • To produce a school where all classrooms are focused with students striving to do their personal best as strategy-based and quality instruction permeate throughout the building.
  • To create a learning community that develops the heart, hands, and minds of all students. We will touch students’ hearts through caring for the whole child; this means including families and community while focusing on our circle of influence. We will touch students’ hands through the development of life skills. We will touch students’ minds through learning about our different cultures and the importance of giving back to our community the new knowledge learned. We will give all students high quality access to the core curriculum.
