Dear Parent:

The Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) met on May 17, 2004.     Twenty parents attended this meeting with nine staff members present to answer questions and to support the parent group.   After reviewing the rules, roles, and decision-making process with Ms. Madrid, our facilitator, the group viewed a Powerpoint presentation on boundaries.   The PAC divided into three groups to analyze the data and discuss the boundaries while working with large, colored maps that showed streets and other landmarks.     The groups reconvened at 7:45 p.m. to report out their recommendations and rationales.

Due to time constraints, the PAC will continue their discussions at the next meeting on Tuesday, June 1, 2004, at the Facilities Operations Center (FOC), located at 1300 Potrero Avenue in Richmond, corner of So. 13th Street and Potrero. Starting time is 6:00 p.m. A security guard is on duty during the evening hours.   If you plan to attend this meeting, please call Ann Francisco at 412-4366 by Friday May 28, 2004. She needs a head count in order to provide dinner and name cards for all attendees.

At this next meeting, the PAC will continue their discussions and recommendations.   An expected outcome of this meeting will be that parents will define attendance areas for all elementary schools.   If time allows, we will begin to draft middle school attendance areas as well.

Future meetings are scheduled as follows:   June 14,  and June 28.
