As of January 2002, all newly hired aides must meet the requirements of NCLB. All currently employed aides have until January 2006 to meet the requirements. In order to meet the requirements the aide must have satisfied one of the following:
- possess an Associates Degree or above from an accredited institution of higher learning;
- possess 48 semester units from an accredited institution of higher learning;
- pass a comprehensive test given by the district.
