Castro is located in the hills of the City of El Cerrito. The main building was built in 1947 with later additions to include a kindergarten/preschool building, a multipurpose room and portable classrooms. Castro takes up one half of a city block, which it shares with a special education preschool, county occupational therapy program, and a city park. The school and grounds span four levels and boast excellent views of San Francisco Bay.
Castro Elementary School's purpose is to educate all students to meet high standards and to prepare each student for successful transition to middle school. |
