Groundbreaking ceremonies have been scheduled for reconstruction projects at eight West Contra Costa Unified School District elementary schools:

Murphy Elementary School, 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 11
Ellerhorst Elementary, 1 p.m. Thursday, May 13;
Kensington Elementary, 9 a.m. May 18;
Mira Vista Elementary, 9 a.m. May 20;
Bayview Elementary School, 9 am. May 25;
Sheldon Elementary, 9 a.m. May 27;
Tara Hills Elementary, 1 p.m. June 1;
Washington Elementary, 9 a.m. June 3.
The events will feature school district officials, officials from the local communities and students.

The funds for the reconstruction of these schools comes from Measure M, a $150 million school construction bond passed in 2000. Work will begin this summer on these eight elementary schools (Phase 1B). Reconstruction of nine other elementary schools (Phase 1B) will be completed this year.
